"the Mormon Church -- has provided an unbelievably large amount of money and resources to fight gay marriage, including $30 million to eliminate gay marriage in California."
I think that statement from the article is misleading. The church as an institution spent about $180,000, mostly in-kind donations. Some (by no means all) church members spent a lot more.
I'm confident we can be creative enough to work this out. The overproduction of corn must stop. Eating less beef will also help. Just a thought, how much plantable space is tobacco taking? The world can definitely do something beneficial with that land. All of this will require those in developed countries to further consider sharing their resources with the developing countries (reversing greed is the part I'm not totally convinced will happen).
