This comment by Hadricvk makes me see red "Let's remember that the kids weren't going to have to witness the harvest of the animal, they just want to raffle off the meat to help fund their program. The success of life depends on death and when are [sic] kids are shielded from this law of nature, we do them a disservice."
For "Harvest of the animal" read slaughter. What's with all this double speak, do kids know that "harvesting" is killing? And if they do know do they in fact care, the prime imoportance here seems to be to raffle off pieces of the poor creatures corpse to the highest bidders. What a lesson to teach, animals are there to nurture, oh yes but only for a while then we just kill them and dispose of their bodies in any way that suits us. They should be teaching children about vegetarianism and veganism, they'd be doing them a bigger service.
