As an adoptee who is using DNA testing to determine who my father was, I'm finding fewer reasons to recommend 23andMe over competitors. Still, I'm committed to the subscription as long as I believe it has value. Erasing many of my anonymous matches will leave me with very little value for the money.
As you can see, I'm not the only one who feels this way.
This is for all people whose identity was forever changed by adoption agencies. We didn't have a say back then and now the agencies that made handsome profits from our "transfer" will not step up and FIX the problems their system has caused.
I am a US born adoptee whose citizenship by birth can be questioned because New York State law prevents me from producing my original birth certificate.
I can only imagine what foreign born adoptees go through when they are told they are not citizens and are subject to a long and costly process that MIGHT eventually grant them citizenship. At worst, they face deportation.
Is there ANY reason NOT to give them a fast-track to citizenship?
