Brody commented on the article |As a controversial Maryland minister filed papers to force a public vote on the recently enacted Washington DC City Council law that recognised Gay Marriages performed outside of the District, The Catholic Archbishop, Donald Wuerl, signaled his support of the anti-gay initiative to ban same-sex marriage and the recently enacted law. "One challenge we see today is a lack of understanding by many people about what marriage is," Wuerl said in a press release. "Marriage simply recognises a relationship that is fundamental to nature: the complementarity of man & woman." He also sent instructions to all of his priests that the Church's view of marriage must be enforced.
Of course, as in Maine, the Archbishop has also been forced to close several parish churches and schools and also takes federal money. Yet, they are allowed to politic and spread the rather anti-christian message of hate which seems to be at odds with their purported mission.
What is needed is exactly what is happening here at this site and across the U. S., a concerted & focused grass-roots opposition to the bias & bigotry expounded by the "churches" and their leadership.
