If the real criminals were in jail, there would be nobody left to run the "justice" system.
Why do so many people from all over the world come to the U.S.? Because life is usually better in the Mafia Don's house than it is in his outhouse.
To put it another way, aside from a small layer of rich collaborators of the Empire in the countries of the 'Global South', a.k.a. 'Third World', the only way for people in those countries to get back some of the wealth stolen from them is to go to the home of the looters and try to sell their labor to those looters for a bit of the loot or, if they're particularly bold or desperate, just take it.
How dare you hide behind a lying pseudonym to slander these victims of a racist frameup? Yes, the issue is not about the amount allegedly stolen, and that should not be raised as an argument. The convictions and sentences would have been just as outrageous if the person robbed by the three boys had been carrying a thousand dollars or a million dollars.
Even is the charges had been true, and they clearly weren't, there are few places in the world outside of the United Snakes and Saudi-occupied Arabia where such harsh sentences would be applied for such a crime. And even here in AmeriKKKa, there are few, if any, places where daughters of a white, middle-class family would be treated that way.
You want 'The Truth'? It's people like you, NOT the Scott sisters, who are despicable. And the people who should be spending the rest of their lives in jail include, along with hundreds of white Mississippian racist murderers who have never been brought to justice, the Sherriff and Judge who put the Scott sisters there.
Killing collaborators with a foreign occupation is a time-honored tradition in most parts of the world that have been thus occupied.
If every life counts, why not devote as much coverage to each Iraqi killed or missing as to each U.S. soldier killed or missing?
Most of these U.S. corporations that we're talking about are big enough to have their own factories and hire workers directly. But if they did that, it would be a lot harder for them to get away with paying workers so little and keeping them working in awful conditions.
Also, when they contact with these "independent" local factories to produce their stuff, if the workers succeed in winning higher wages, etc., the corporate retailers can just contract with another factory where the workers haven't been successful in fighting for better wages and conditions. In other words, they can in effect fire the uppity workers and replace them with others just by changing contractors.
It's a good thing that Governor Barbour has just decided to parole them, since Obama couldn't pardon them even in the unlikely event he wanted to, given that they're state, not federal, prisoners.
FREE AT LAST!
Well, almost! Governor Barbour announced this afternoon that their sentences were being suspended. One of the conditions of Gladys Scott's parole is that they do the kidney transplant that Jamie Scott needs.

Sorry, but with perhaps a million Iraqis dead, millions displaced, and most of the rest living in a situation of horror and misery, all as a result of the U.S. invasion of that country, I regard it as obscene to devote any space on this site to one captured soldier from the invading army.
Even if you accept the official story (I don't) that the WTC demolition was the work of "Muslim hijackers", then the logic of those who object to a mosque near the site could just as well -- and perhaps with a lot more justification -- be used to forbid the building of a synagogue in any part of Lebanon or the building of a synagogue or church in any part of Iraq.
