And no, I have not, but what I'm saying is that indecent exposure is not the same as rape. And I think a rape victim could understand that just as well as a non rape victim. That was the ONLY thing I had an issue with, so don't try to twist my words. This article is not about justice being served or not served. I am talking about context. If someone is urinating in public drunkenly, and someone calls the cops on them, is there a victim there? Possibly and possibly not. And that person deserves to serve time for it, sure. But if people who make mistakes like that are grouped in with people who do things like rape and beat women (which I did not bring up AT ALL, and is not what I am talking about AT ALL) then don't you think that's a little wrong?
Also you might want to work on your grammar.
Most of the crimes in my city that show up on the sex offender registry site were indecent exposure until they changed the layout of the site and some of the offenses stopped appearing.
So yes, it does happen, which was my point. Yes, it's not really a sex crime, but those people can still get labeled as sex offenders so it's important to take that into account when reading the article. That's the sort of thing I think they're talking about when "minor offenses" are mentioned, and basically the only thing I have a qualm with.
But that's the thing, not all sex offenders were "subjecting" women or children to anything. In my state, and I think in most, if not all states, you can get on the sex offender registry simply for being caught drunkenly urinating in public. Stupid, yes, but does that person deserve to be paraded around with the likes of those charged with sexual battery, rape, or otherwise? That's the point this article is trying to make. I think you missed the part about "less serious offenses."
I'm glad to see that this issue is gaining more attention, even if people are disagreeing with it! Hopefully change is on the way!
I think the point you are missing here is that we don't simply wish to "erase our carbon footprint" but that we wish to alter our impact on that world so that humans and nature can coexist efficiently.
