His conviction was based on the testimony of witnesses who have now recanted, claiming police pressure or coercion. This must be taken into consideration in order to prevent the irreparable and block Troy Davis' execution. The criminal justice system is not infallible, but what counts is making amends: "to err is human, but to persist in error out of pride is diabolical.”
