Cobb County GA: Release Grieving Mother of Hit-and-Run & Install a Crosswalk

After reading this I am disgusted that a person who should have not been driving only did 6 months after hitting and killing a person. Furthermore it appears that Ms. Nelson ran after her child to try to save him, and ended up being hit as well. It might be a technicality but she hadn't even crossed traffic yet. She ran out to save her son. I personally would taken the crosswalk 1 mile down even if I was exhausted (I walk or ride my bicycle every where so I know what 1 mile feels like.) than to cross that many lanes of a highway.
A few questions:
If there were that many people jaywalking why is there not a pedestrian bridge built at that stop?
Why is she being sentenced in the first place Ms. Nelson made a bad judgement call by having the intent of crossing the highway. She ran after her son to try to save him, as he darted out on his own. This does not warrant a prosecution or criminal charges its sad enough that she lost her son.
Why did this come to court in the first place.

Armed Students? Texas May Allow Concealed Guns On College Campuses

I do not feel scared by a gun. What scares me is lack of education on how to use and handle a gun. Banning guns only harms the innocent. Right now at my campus if someone where to carry a concealed gun onto campus with intentions to kill there is nothing to stop that. By the time security could respond it would be too late for too many people. With that in mind I do not agree to banning guns. I do feel however that gun education is something that should happen before a person can obtain a permit to carry a gun. I also feel that there are other methods to protecting yourself like using a taser instead. I will not be signing this petition.

In Defense of Frozen Food

Thank you Mr. Orr for stating this. Not everyones situation allows for them to buy fresh produce. For some of the people I know just buying and using frozen vegetables in their diet is a marked improvement. It is nice to be idealistic and say eat local, organic, fresh produce, but that is a far cry from many many peoples reality. Thank you for bringing some fresh air and reality into the conversation.

Florida’s SB 1070: All Immigrants Must Carry Papers, Except Canadians and Europeans

Thanks for bashing Native Born Americans. I can't afford a passport right now let alone pay for traveling expenses. NOT because I am ignorant but because of my financial situation. Before you needed passports to go to Canada or Mexico I traveled (younger at the time parents paid now I am paying my way through college). Please don't make an argument off of stereotypes.

Is Obesity Caused By a Virus?

The sample size is way to small for me too look at this as anything other than a beginning point to more studies. For now I would completely disregard this study when it comes to the virus corresponding to obesity. My issue is that this will just be used to explain away childhood obesity by the main stream media. There is already to much miss information and this just adds to it.
