I am eighteen years old, and I am going to attend Hendrix College in the fall. May 27, 2005, I found out that I had cancer. About two months into treatment, I became severely ill and almost lost my life to a deadly gut infection. I had an emergency surgery in my hospital room because the doctors said I would not have made it during the transport to the OR. Another two months later, after I restarted treatment, the infection came back. That was when my family and I decided that a transplant would be best for me. My identical twin sister, Destiney, was a perfect match, and was my donor. Despite missing my entire freshman year and half of my sophomore year, I still graduated on time with my twin sister Destiney.
