The Buffalo City Mission DOES RECEIVE SOME GOVERMENT FUNDS. This has not prevented them from witholding food if residents don't attend a fire and brimstone service every morning. This is a Pentacostal Organization. They could care less about rules because legislators look the other way. Obama appointed a Pentacostal preacher to "oversee" faith based organizations. Talk about the fox guarding the hen house. Currently, conservative religious zealots have louder mouths than those who stand up for constitutional rights of the poor, so these organizations feel very comfortable in violating government regulations that "supposedly" protect people from this kind of discrimination. Karen, you need to do some under cover research if you don't beleive this. Faith based orgs. are happily breaking this regulation with impunity because after all, who's going to call them on it ?
The point is that people should not have to enure religious discrimination in order to recieve food and/or other basic necessities. People should have the right to eat without having to hear a sermon. If someone was denied food BECAUSE they wanted to say a prayer at the table, all of you religious zealots would raise the roof. Religion should not be a requirement for recieving food and shelter. This is a human rights issue folks, not an argument about religious deities. Get a grip.
