  Sorry to hear about your broken foot. And yes, pain meds do interfere with thinking and typing and focusing. I had a similar experience last year while attempting to complete my masters thesis. Finally had to remove myself from all of the meds to meet my deadline. Good luck with your recovery! Give yourself the time you need.

  Real Healthcare Reform Starts with Healthy Food

  Unfortunately in many parts of this country there are no big grocery stores in the poorest neighborhoods. Instead there are little corner stores that can only afford to sell processed, boxed, and canned food because it keeps much better than fresh produce.

  
  

  The cost of taking a bus (or 3) to a full grocery with produce is prohibitive, plus the time involved for a person working more than one job is out of the question.

  
  

  Until we find a way to make fresh healthy food affordable and accessible to everyone we should not be punishing those with less financial means by taxing the only food that is available to them.

  Blue Light Special in Aisle 9- Late Tomato Blight

  Yes, I would love to tell the big box stores just what I think of them! They continue to sell invasive plants that are destroying ecosystems around the country because they say people want them so why not sell them? In my opinion, much better to educate people about the dangers of those plants and not sell them. I am not in favor of the "make money at any cost" model. Now they're selling blighted tomatoes. We should all boycott them until they stop selling such dangerous plants.

  Palin's Higher Calling? Fame, Fortune via Global Warming Denial

  I really wish we could elect politians on the basis of their grasp of scientific fact, their knowledge of how their decisions have an impact on those who elected them, and their willingness to serve the people, not just an uninformed base. I personally, am very happy to finally have a president who seems smarter than me. The GOP seems to thrive by shunning intelligence and denying science. Why do people continue to support this?

  So, You Think You Can Farm

  This is such a great idea--to apprentice at a farm and learn the ins and outs of farming. We need many more family farmers and much fewer factory farms.
