I have run a non profit in Los Angeles CA since 2001. There is a great need for people to become aware of the serious need and dire conditions in which people are living in one of the richest cities in the US. The only mental illness beds exist in the county jails and most homeless are single others or mentally disabled. These are not people feeding off the system, there is no system to feed off.

Lindsay commented on the article |I have run a homeless feeding program that also provides help for housing and other life necessities. We are Jewish based and NEVER prosthelytize and we help any one who knocks on our door. So your point is?
Yes there are some organizations who do preech, but maybe the homeless are a "captive" audeince, so that is sad. Still, the only service providers in downtown Los Angeles(the largest homeless population in the country) are christian based and do a lot of preeeching, so that is a sad situation to me and there sould be a moral obligation from the state to provide services for the homeless.
