Casey commented on the petition |I write to you as a member of Americorps, and a concerned and active citizen. In today's economy, it has been hard for me to find a job. I'm a recent college graduate, I've maintained a job throughout highschool and college, and thought of course I'd find something after I finished my degree. And here I am, working a couple of part-time jobs, just to make ends meet. I was offered an Americorps position a few weeks ago, and have gladly accepted. I'll be making even less money now, and things will be tight for a while, but I am so passionate about what I'll be doing that I didn't have to think twice.
This program offers me the opportunity to do something meaningful that I am passionate about, even in today's economy. It makes it possible for programs all around the country to make incredible positive changes in their communities. To cut funding for such a program now, would be a huge step backwards.
