Dear Ms. Kronenberg, My name is Melissa Sue Robinson and I really need your help on my campaign for Mayor of Nampa, ID in this year's general election in November. Anne, Nampa is a city that badly needs an anti-discrimination ordinance passed as it has violated LGBT rights and gotten away with it for too long. This city has grown from 60,000+ to 83,000+ just within this decade and becoming much more diverse. About me, I am a m to f post- op transgender person who was instrumental in getting a similar ordinance passed in Lansing, MI. (my former home town) in 2006. I did this by becoming very visible i.e. ran for Mayor in 2003, State Representative in 2004 , 2006 and State Senate in a special election in 2006. The Senate race was called in order to replace a Senator, Virg Bernero, who became Mayor of Lansing. While running for office I helped get LGBT issues out. With the support of many Lansing City Council members and Mayor Bernero, (whose brother was gay and died of Aids), we were able to get that ordinance, which was defeated in 1996, passed. Winning an election in Nampa, home to Northwestern Nazarene University, is an uphill battle. It's present Mayor, Tom Dale, is a former band instructor at that university and has the support of many right-wing churches in the area. My campaign is a get-in-their-face campaign and will help me begin the LGBT fight forward. The day an ordinance like this is passed in Idaho, and especially Nampa will be the day that we win one more victory for LGBT rights in America and the world. All that I am asking is for your support and suggestions on a campaign manager. Anne, I really intend and will work hard to garner as much support for our issues in Nampa, as well as votes. I am a 1994 graduate of Michigan State University (BA in Humanities) and a former business owner i.e. owned a construction company with 25 employees in Michigan for 10 years. Just like you helped Harvey Milks win his election in San Fransisco, I know that you could advise me and help our cause. Please reply. With Warm Regards,Melissa Sue Robinson The Committee to Elect Robinson for Mayor468 W.
