Ha, you are correct. It is the same old song that I sing. I want something that gives the same Long Term coverage as Medicaid would. I want something that does not discriminate against the disabled. The long term coverage issue is more important than than the cost curve issues. With my wife I am finding out that one disability can turn into several other health issues. The fact that she is denied coverage, where as Medicaid pays for 100 percent when we divorce really pisses me off. I do help pay for it.
I support any plan imposed that actually provides for healthcare coverage, rather than the "if " stipulations that we have today.
As for Wilson, I believe it was a dog and pony show. He had plenty of time on the issue to express the language and intent. It seems awful odd that he explodes with the comment.( like Wilson didn't know the president was going to say what he did). And it seems awful odd the amount of contributions that he received right afterwards.
I agree the Republican leadership are failing to lead, follow, or even get out of the way. They need to step up to the plate and do the right thing. It seems that most of them rely on certain media figures taking control of the party actions. And these guys are leading more with a strange hate propaganda.

Look at the people that follow things like this rather than the leadership that they voted for. People really believe this stuff.
YOU LIE!.... Sorry, I don't know where that came from. But I will only apologize once.
"A lot of folks can't afford to be forced to buy insurance. There goes my tax return."
Excellent point you just made, James. So just who is paying for those "folks" now that chose not to have health insurance? They cannot choose when they have a major accident either. I have no problem paying for it , or even mandated like car insurance. I don't even have a problem with paying more premiums than someone less advantaged. The whole thing is wanting it to work when you really need it. Why even have it if you can pay out of your pocket the whole time, until that one time where you really need it and none of it gives you all , or even any of what you need. Look how many of the low income t middle class now are milking your tax dollars because. They get a divorce and/or quit a job to qualify for the free Medicaid when they have no problem paying for insurance to begin with. I am quite sure that these people would stay married and keep a job otherwise. It is all too common when insurance does not work now.
If you cannot trust the Government , then really who can you trust to deliver it. Not the insurance companies.
Yes, I agree Danetta. It is very unfair. Someone on a cane is ,without a doubt, a high risk for falls. It is much different from smoking, not exercising, or overeating. Same as for mental and developmental disabilities are far more apt for other injuries and Illness. Most of the high risk pools would be the disabled, weather it was preventable or not just from the way it sounds. And when you really need it, I gets much harder to afford. Plus my wife use to run everyday before work. After her accident she cannot stay on her feet long enough to get any exercise, therefore she has gained weight (even under doctor's care. Another flag due only to her disability). Keep her on her feet too long( to get her exercise) and she falls. She can't win with a piss on a person while they are down legislation. More of the same kind of benifit she has now (with just not covering what she needs).
It does strike a nerve when disability can lead to several other "high risk flagged" conditions.
I agree Christine. There are hidden cost with long term disabilities. The private sector fails to provide and forces an individual into medicaid so that coverage will be affordable. I wish that I could see the statistic of how many people had to quit a job or get divorced just so that they could qualify to get care from an underfunded medicaid program.
I am in that boat with my wife and have talked to several people that had to do the same thing. No wonder it is underfunded when people are pushed that way. All of nothing. What a choice now. I am going to get 100 percent of my wife's care taken care of at tax payers expense just by getting a divorce. which is kind of tricky because I am also her guardian and caregiver. So the lawyer are winning now till I get them all paid. Otherwise with the good insurance that I have I pay 100%. If there was an option I would not have to divorce and call the expensive thing off and even actually pay for the benefits that she could receive at an affordable rate. We are not taking care of our disabled and long term illnesses Insurance that you pay for does not do the job. When we see the people in the medicaid world offering hope for recovery , then you do what you have to do.
If there was an option plan people could keep the job, stay married and lighten the tax payers pocket. Not to mention that when we do divorce she gets SSI, food stamps, and a plethora of free-bees. I had real moral problems with the term "divorce". I still do a bit. But her doctors are routing for her and everyone says that it is pretty much standard as an option since she will need much more medical attention throughout her life. I just can't help to wonder what would medicaid be like if there was an option that worked and wasn't milked dry by the industry. I would rather stay married, but it is not good for her outcome. I don't mind paying I just wished there was and option that actually worked now. I have paid into insurance for many years thinking it will be there if and when I needed it. The whole family has been responsible and healthy, never needing to use it beyond a cough or a couple of stitches. I even have the best plan chosen from my employer. People tell me how good it is that have it. It wasn't very good at all when my wife acquired a severe brain injury. I have seen a different side of things since then. There are millions of people out there just like her living with similar disabilities. They all seem to have the same problems in dealing with insurance that just does not work like most people think that it does.
As for hospitals, they do normally run in the red. What if everyone had insurance that even worked? Would they have to charge 20 bucks for a 50 cent paper gown to recoupe money from the uninsured? There are several hidden costs that keep piling on now.
LONG TERM health-care is what we need It can happen to anyone at a snap of a finger for no apparent reason. We are not getting it from the insurances that we pay for now.
I think that race is part of the issue. I have heard things associating blacks as the only group that Obama wants to help. I heard that two days ago. The political cartoons that you get in email with Obama's face on a food stamp. It is there, regardless of what party that you belong to. There are those out there that actually believe that Obama is more for blacks than he is for all Americans in general.
That is just a part of the fear tactics and lies that go around that they put in peoples heads. Socialism, death panels, health care is the first step in taking guns away ( I hear that one everyday), Government take over of US, and you name it. What ever it is that you are afraid of, then there is a lie that people believe and it is to the point that you cannot convince them otherwise of the truth.
yeah, I do think that is part of it. I think that the opposing side is trying every angle. Even appeasing to racist's fears. And also profiling welfare people as free-loaders instead of victims of a bad economy that just need a hand up instead of a hand out. They are really playing the hate game.
I know a lady that I use to work with that has a masters degree and cannot find a job. She has been unemployed for over 6 months. You don't see those guys on Fox news.
I think there is a huge problem with the leadership. A real leader will be comprised of ethical solutions and innovation.
The followers tend to repeat the same thing that everyone else says with out taking the time to check it out and do the right thing.
Also coupled with the lies that people are believing. It is those gullible people that hear that Obama is taking guns away, or some kind of conspiracy plot to take over the world under one order. Those are the guys that sit on the back porch with binos after work looking for chem trails.
This is point where we got to draw our lines in the sand and make sure the people that we vote for in our district understand if no option, then no plan, no crap. We need to play the same game. No good health-care plan, no legislation. Put the ball in their court.
Also there needs to be a draft proposed to do away with the free insurance our senate has. If they deem it not good ( by not getting an option), then we should go with that. They can take the savings and create better benefits for the soldiers that are giving all overseas. Our soldiers need it more than the those guys ever will. A good leader will set the example and be the example.
dumping is illegal now. It is all in how THEY word it. Now they just don't admit you in and find something LEGAL to go off from. Wife had a severe TBI in Feb 2008. she was doing a bit better, but fell later in the the year hitting her head. She was back to laying there yelling help over and over. I took her to our local ER and they didn't take her. They told me the trick is to find a hospital that has both neuro and psyc facilities and get admitted through the ER. I picked her up and we went to Louisville, KY to the a hospital that had both in out area. We were there for 12 hours. I seen this guy in a suit that kept talking to the Doc every time he left our cubicle. she had a 2 inch gash on top of her head that was swollen.
The ER doc said that he could not admit her.I argued with him for at least 45 minutes. He was telling me it was because I was from Indiana. I argued that the guy two cubicles down could not speak English and I knew that he was not from Ky. I argued that I have insurance. He said that I have to go to my local Community services. The Doc even went as far as printing CS information on paper and saying "trust me I see this all the time and it is the only way that you will any get help for her".
The thing to do ( that they didn't come right out and say) is get a divorce and get medicaid. That is the only alternative that makes sense. "It is free", I have been told several times. Not really free though. It is very common for all of these Long-term disabilities to be pushed into medicaid. I pay for insurance and have access to one of the best hospitals in our area. Medicaid covers 100 %. It really comes to no surprise that 2 out of 5 homeless in this nation are disabled and medicaid is underfunded while insurance companies are making record profits.
Angela was back to not walking ( and seeing things that wasn't there) The hospital maintained that everything was legal. I was told that the real reason that they would not take her is the risk management issues that went along with her. Very common, I have been told.
My only point is that just because it is legal does not make it right. This is pretty common as I hear it from other people. So is TBI ( Like every 23 seconds in the US on average)
Anyway that is my rant that comes to mind. Long term disability is being descriminated against now by the hospitals and insurance companies. And it is perfectly legal.
I have always assumed insurance is there for me before now. I have great insurance that I pay for. They will pay for the cheap and fight the expensive. It turns into a big BS game where you hope that the case worker is a good liar to make the stipulations where the insurance will pay something. Then there is the thing where bills go into collection and 7 months later they pay. why is that? I think that hey are trying to starve you to get on medicaid sooner. I went to the doc previously for the flu and they paid right away. They have no problems with the cheap stuff that I can pay out of pocket. When you really need the insurance ...look out. Legal isn't always right. Insurance laws don't always protect the American . You can bet your premiums that the million a day in lobby will go for laws that do not protect you at all and protect the business interests of insurance companies.
Right now if I get a bad cheesburger. I have a right as an American to take action as a consumer. There is also gov agencies to help regulate that we depend on. They make sure that it doesn't happen again to protect others that may get the same kind of cheeseburger. Nobody gripes about the billions that go to the private sectors for medical research. If you think that legal is fine just don't get a long term disability. As an American you are 4 times more likely to get a TBI, than you would to contract AIDS or HIV.
Nothing Extreme about it. Just reality.
