And, BTW, being a Canadian, you may be unaware that AIPAC is merely one of thousands political action committees swaying interest on Capitol Hill. If you really think that they control the political process in the Middle East anymore than OPEC, then you need to read a book. And if you think that AIPAC controls America, then you need some pills and a dark room.

Well, Doug, I do see an "unquestioned, unthinking, and knee-jerk" reaction to Israel on your behalf. Maybe you should read your comment with some sensibility from the other side, unless of course you don't believe in peace with the Zionist entity. Which wouldn't surprise me, seeing as how you're citing George Galloway in your quest for peace.

Not everyone is interested in peace in the Middle East. You have proven that, and enact upon it when you bash Israel as relentlessly and an unintelligently as you do.

Daniel: You touch on the complexity of Cast Lead. The goal was to stop the rocket launchers, and the rocket launchers were working out of neighborhoods and from ontop of apartment buildings. What Israel did was drop leaflets before dropping bombs, and while I'm not a fan of weaponry or war, the effort was made from Israel's behalf to limit civilian casualties.

What I want to know is why aren't the neighboring Arab countries taking in their share of Gazans stuck in a war zone? In 42 years of so-called "occupation" all that's happened is Egypt saying they didn't want the Strip back in '79. Amman, Cairo/Alexandria, Riyadh, Beirut, and Damascus are all capable of taking in Palestinian Arab refugees, and yet they haven't for political purposes.

Again, it seems that the Arab POV is to give Israel the black eye more than it is to help their cousins of Arab descent. That's part of the complexity of the Middle East politics, and it's something worth investigating.

The Mavi Marnara was sponsored by IHH. The people weilding knives and clubs on the Mavi Marnara (there were 700 folks, and not all of them were extremist) were tied to IHH. So, yes, there is enough evidence to link the Mavi Marnara with the Turks and even the Turkish government. It wouldn't suprise me if Erdogan was somehow involved with making this an international event simply to give Israel a black eye. That's straight out of the Islamist political playbook. Make a scene and get people killed for no other reason than to make Israel look bad.

It should also be noted that the MSU regularly sponsors speakers who call for the annihilation of the State of Israel. From what I've seen on YouTube and whathaveyou, these folks are able to make their speeches without a constant, systematic interruption.

"Christian and Muslim Palestinians are the main victims of Israel..."

In what way, Lyn? Christian sites are preserved. Muslim sites are preserved. Each have full access to their sites. Judaic sites in Arab lands? Not preserved. Jews don't have full rights to visit those sites, as was proved when Jordan (formerly 74% of the Brit's Palestine) disallowed Jews to enter the shadow of the Western Wall (our #1 holy site).

I'm sure you mean by war, right Lyn? Although there are Muslim citizens of Israel, and Christian citizens of Israel, guess what? There are no Jewish citizens of Jordan. Or Saudi Arabia. Or many in Syria or Egypt. But you're a propagandist, and as by definition your arguments are flimsy and full of hyperbole.

"I still think he should have called on people of all faiths to unite against Israel.  The statement, as reported, is only out of place in a meeting to advance interfaith dialogue if one assumes that opposing Israel means opposing Jews or the Jewish faith."

Israel is a Jewish state. It is the only Jewish state in the world. It is the size of Rhode Island, and it has been in the diplomatic works since early in the 19th century. The only reason to oppose a Jewish state of Israel is to stop the Jews from self-determination. That is why there have not been any pogroms in the Middle East since her creation. Yes, wanting to destroy Israel is on par with being willing to destroy Jewish lives.

"I don't know but I do know a lot of anti-Zionist or anti-Israel Jews, so I would oppose that claim myself, on the other hand I've heard a lot of the usual pro-Israel crowd say it is."

And I know a lot of black people, and we all think I'd be a great rapper.

"Far be it for me to say what another person's faith should be.  It's when they use that belief to justify murder and ethnic cleansing that I have a quarrel with it."

More ambiguity from you, Lyn. Is this the mode of argument that Change.org supports? My original 2 responses to this vehement anti-Israel screed was deleted by the moderators. Great to know that you folks are all about bringing people together-- apparently, all folks who hate Jews should be allowed to bash ambiguously on Israel on the Change.org website.

So what are we changing to? Life in Berlin, circa 1935?
