Yeah Mississippi is pretty messed up and behind the times (86% voted yes to ban gay marriage) I have relatives from there and all I can say is I'm not sure if the majority there have fully accepted other civil rights like equal housing.
I don't know how much they've paid google, but now there are Stand for Marriage ads popping up on youtube with the message "San Francisco Values?" and on the side of suggested videos, Stand For Marriage is now a promoted video on youtube.
..and yet Carly Fiorina's position is not consistent with the majority of senators from Argentina
Heck, even Bill O'Reilly thinks this is unfair and un-"Christian"...
I'm kind of wondering, do private religious schools ever expell children if their parents get a divorce???
How does living in a place where a man can marry a man, negatively affect anyone???...
Yeah, Massachusetts has gay marriage... but can anyone say that the state is a worse place to live than Texas? (I mean Massachusetts may not have as many bulls or cacti as Texas, but I don't think it's that terrible of a loss) Actually the quality of living in most states and countries that have marriage equality, are very high. South Africa, the only marriage equality nation in Africa, also happens to be the wealthiest, and was just recently the host of the 2010 World Cup (where marriage equality Spain won and marriage equality Netherlands was second).. so I don't think allowing marriage to be gender neutral has really destroyed these civilisations. So the argument would you rather live here or somewhere where they have "imposed" gay marriage, is a very bad argument.
Personally I don't think popular retail stores like Target (or Best Buy, Walmart, etc..) should be getting involved at all with political issues. If people have shopped at a place for years and they find out that some of the money they spent has been used to go to a political cause they don't agree with, that store could lose business.
Personally I think Target getting involved in politics either way is divisive, risky business... if Target donated money to a pro-gay governor, people on the other side would also be boycotting.
If he had been born 100 years ago, Ken Blackwell would probably have opposed federal judges imposing women's suffrage on the states, in order to preserve "the fundamental institution of human civilization...as it has been known through the entirety of American history and Western civilization."
Those who passionately defend Prop 8, need to get a life! It hasn't protected anyone's marriage
If this were a case of women's rights and the judge were female, it would be insulting to request her to recuse herself. Saying that Judge Vaughn Walker should have recused himself is an insult to the lgbt community and an insult on him as a judge.
With a common name like Smith, it might actually be refreshing to change my name... it might depend what his name is however.
