tee commented on the article |It makes me sick to think that I ate animal products for so many years of my life. I really wish schools would teach about animal rights, I think that would be such a big step toward ending this misery. I think back to two of the electives I had my senior year of high school, Issues of Conscious and Environmental Science and nothing about the cruelty of meat or dairy processes were mentioned. In environmental science it was made clear that it was wasteful of resources, but thats the extent of what we covered in class. I received a zero for homework one day because my teacher had thought I had done the assignment wrong. The homework was to make a food web of everything that I eat to later demonstrate how much energy is consumed by our conventional eating habits. My food web was just a list of food branching off a picture I drew of the sun and instead of reading the whole list she just assumed that I didn't follow the directions. I had to explain that I don't anything (cows) that eats other things (grass) that grows from the sun and that i couldn't make a whole web. I was really disappointed that I had to explain to her because I thought being and environmental science teacher would entail knowledge of veganism.
