Americans wouldn't stand for those working conditions and long hours, why do you think it is ok for the Chinese? Are their lives less important? Better working conditions would add to the cost of the Apple products. But that is ok, they are expensive anyway, and customers will pay more because they are so desirable. They may grumble, but they will still stand in long lines the night before a new product is introduced.
