There should be living wages for any organization that hires over 50 people.
Small businesses who can afford living wages should pay them but I am not how I feel about forcing them to do so through legislation.
I think small businesses should be supportive of living wages because if people are earning more, it can fuel more demand for the products or services small businesses offer.
I don't see marriage as a HUMAN RIGHT but I do think people should be allowed to marry the person of their choice provided both people are of legal age.
I do wish there was less discrimination against single people and/or those who do not want to marry. Why should you have to be married in order to be entitled to certain legal and financial benefits?
If Wal-Mart DOES come to NYC, the city needs to make sure they pay LIVING wages and provides benefits. The city cannot subsidize the retailer in any shape or form.
I don't donate to the Salvation Army because of their bigotry. There are better organizations people can give their money to.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for this. Every little step is progress even though I'm fine with civil unions being the only thing.

I would advise this couple to try to adopt domestically.
If they want to help an Ethiopian child, they should donate to charities that help African children. There are plenty of them out there and it's much cheaper to donate say $10-15 a month to help a child than trying to save $20-30K just to ADOPT the child.
I would love to see this happen.
I hope the people in New York rally together to make this happen.
I tend to use the word heterosexist a lot but when I do, people often have no clue what I am talking about.
Homophobia is just now getting to where people know exactly what you mean.
I'm fine with using heterosexist, we as the LGBT community have to do a good job of educating people about what it means.
