Hello all, My name is Jeremy and I'm actively involved in helping to rebuild the Gulf Coast. The best way I've found to help do this attracting investors to the region by showing them how to invest in and build up the rental stock that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. One of the best things the federal government did after Katrina was the to enact the Gulf Opportunity Act of 2005 (GO Zone for short). A small part of this act allowed for what is known as 50% Bonus Depreciation. This depreciation is by far the #1 reason I've been able to attract investors through-out the country to help rebuild the residential rental stock. Unfortunately the Bonus Depreciation has expired for AL, and investors only have the rest of 2009 to invest in MS or LA. It would be nice to see this benefit extended because the Gulf Coast is still very short of it's goal of rebuilding the rental stock.
