  • Frequently Asked Drone Questions on Health Care
Keith commented on the article | over 2 years ago

Side note – you ever notice that people who ask “Where in the Constitution…” generally have never read article I section 8?)

Funny I read it and it also mentioned that those "duties, imposts, and excises shall be uniform throughout the US" They certainly don't seem uniform to me. I will not pay higher taxes so you can have healthcare for those that pay less or no taxes. Nor do I want to pay more taxes so people like myself who chose not to get healthcare can get it for free. I chose not to receive health insurance from my employer so I could recieve a higher salary. My choice not yours or anyone elses. And yes you knew it was coming, but I also don't want to pay for illegal aliens to get healthcare either, regardless of what country they're from. By the way I've seen and been a patient of the government medical system and it sucks. The same people that bitch and moan about the money the military gets then talk about the great medical care facilities blah, blah blah blah apparently don't realize when you cut funding for the military you cut funding for the health care also.  Oh and also for you "morons" that believe everything above. How about getting the gov't out of healthcare so the prices would come down or is that too easy.  Oh wait your'e part of the Union that would be a no no. Keep your change buddy I'll keep my free choices and my money.

  • Clear Majority of Public Supports Legal Status for Undocumented
Keith commented on the article | almost 3 years ago

I think one thing people forget is simple mathematics. We have immigration laws for many reasons. One is very simple. Our "melting pot" is only so big. At some point that pot fills up and overflows. We have our own domestic population to consider before the rest of the world. I am all for legal immigration however we have to remember that we only have so much space, so many jobs, so much money and so we must consider this when we allow x number of immigrants citizenship per year. One other thing to consider is that all these people from other countries come here for a reason. We used to be the only free country. We used to be a free market capitalist society protected by our constitution which guaranteed equal oppurtunity to everyone (not equal outcomes) People realized they could come here to earn money and make a life for themselves free from government restraints in their own countries. I pray to God that we as Americans begin to remember what made this country so great and return to our Founding Roots. Less Government, more personal freedom, more LIBERTY.
    Long live the Republic
For those that have come here following the laws.......Welcome to America

  • Good Teaching with Bad Curriculum?
Keith commented on the article | almost 3 years ago

Good teachers should be payed more and allowed to expand on a general curriculum as they see fit for their students.
"No child left behind" should be thrown out the window. Some children need to be left behind. They need extra attention, they need more help from parent, whatever the reason they need more time and help. Pushing them through helps noone.
Public school systems should be abandoned and private schools should be brought to the forefront. School choice is what is needed to break this cycle. Parents would be able to make a choice as to what school would be best for their children while not having to financially support a school system they are not using. Teachers that excel would be payed more in a private setting and others would be weeded out. Until we as a country get back to our founding principles and beliefs the schooling of our children will continue to decay. My children are just turning two and my wife and I are already planning to send them to private school. We moved to a good school district and the more we look at the system the more we agree we want more for our children. It will cost us $11k to $26k per year, money we don't have but will get as it's what's best for our children. Public schools, teachers unions and state mandated curriculum and agendas should not be payed for by taxation.

  • My Name is Maria and I am an American

    Hey alex,
senators, congressmen, and mayors are all elected officials that are supposed to be our voice. They are not supposed to represent their own thoughts. That is one the biggest problems we face today.
Let's look at it from the perspective of she attended public school for free, which the whole public school system is unconstitutional to begin with. Now she admits that she is attending college and paying for it herself. I greatly admire her for that. There are so many other stories on this site about not having this or that but to find someone willing to work for what they want and having to give up some things to get others is fantastic. It's called personal responsibility. Now my other problem is if she doesn't have a SS # is she and her family paying taxes on the money they earn to stay here in the US? It took a friend of mine seven years to become a citizen. He and his family did everything the right way payed their taxes started in apartments and now own two homes. It is possible to do it the right way. It's not easy and good things often require work to get.

  • Michelle Obama Serves Soup, Nation Misses the Point

Let's try it from this angle. It's called being responsible. Let's see I can't afford to put a roof over my head but I think I can afford a cell phone payment each month. Insted of doing without lets get a laptop and a digi cam. Which of course need batteries and electric. Who cares if I can't pay my electric bill oh wait I don't have a home to pay electric. Get a job get a place to live. We've all done it. I've lived places I would rather not but I had to till I could move on.

"that includes that 45 million of their fellow Americans who have no access to health care."
Tell me george how many of them could actually be receiving medicare coverage if they wanted. Or how many of those Americans are actually citizens.
Better yet tell me how that soup kitchen is going to do when their contributions are cut due to new tax laws. And personally I think it's about damn time the Obamas gave something back. My family gave more to charity with a tenth of the income then the Obamas and the Bidens gave. Tell me, did she bring any food over to contribute to the cause of just her precious time. I know in these tough economic times the Obamas have had to tighten their purse strings right? We should just be grateful that she gave of her time.

  • The Roots of Contemporary Homelessness
Keith commented on the article | almost 3 years ago

Once again the decay of the family plays a large role. Single income "families" will certainly have a tough time of it in todays world. My wife and I both work and bought a home we could afford, half the amount the bank said we could borrow. Now with twins we make the bills with a little left but no cushion. I did not graduate college, I am good at what I do and have skills that allow me to make 55+k a year. Long hours and showing up to work everyday are things that somepeople have forgotten. It's called a work ethic. As a parent you are forced to sacrifice some things you want for what your children need. That may mean moving to an area that is more affordable for housing and commuting to your job so your family can have a roof over their heads. And let me just add that many people need to change their ways when it comes to renting. Just because you don't own it doesn't mean you can't help take care of it. Pick up the trash, buy some paint, put in some new light bulbs, vacuum the floor. In other words take some pride in yourself and what place you have to live. And yes I see it everyday, those that are homeless, inbetween places to live or are just renting and treating the place like a dump because "it's not theirs"

  • How to Perpetuate Homelessness
Keith commented on the article | almost 3 years ago

In just a few minutes I found multiple apartment complexes(not including small private apartments) with 2 Bedroom units from $800 and up. The point of shelters are to get you back on your feet. The shelters are not there for the children, that's what family services are for. Parents need to be responsible for themselves and their children. It's not easy at all. You do what you have to. If you can't afford to live in Mass then maybe they should look into moving, it's not like they have a place to worry about selling or breaking a lease. I equate it in a way to people living in the desert and complaining of lack of food and water. There never has been any and there won't ever be any. Yes I feel bad for the children, we all do but parents need to step up and be just that, PARENTS.   You complain about them shorening the time frame but you also complain about the wait to get in. If you shorten the turnaround time for someone in the shelter you get a new needier family into the shelter quicker.
