I advocate the Trade Justice Movement and Fair Trade because, when I think back to why my great-grandparents immigrated to this country, I see how they could no longer endure those economically tough times in Ireland and Lithuania, thus came to the U.S. in hopes of an opportunity. When I think of those forced to live in poverty in other countries, I think of the foundations of my life in this country. I see that all these people want is an opportunity, and I've decided to dedicate my life to helping the poor discover opportunity.
In 2006, I initiated a DC-area Fair Trade advocacy group, the DC Fair Trade Network. In the future, I intend to make a professional career of grassroots outreach for Fair Trade.
