Et tu Lego? The world expects better from the Danes!
After I had a son in 1998, I was delighted by the great variety of toys marketed to boys, including Legos . To my 56-year old husband's delight, we are still playing with his Legos bought in Denmark in 1968, back when Legos were meant for everyone. Needless to say we've added thousands of bricks since then.
When my daughter was born in 2002, I quickly reached a depressing conclusion: in the marketing world, boys have all the toys, girls have all the clothes. Fortunately my daughter believes that Legos are her birthright, and we don't much bother to shop the insipid girls' toy aisle.
Please Lego, don't sully the incredible vision of your founder, the timeless quality of your toys--truly one of the great toys in the history of the world--by insulting 50% of us with such a pointless, no-play-value cheap trick.
I too am an urban planner working every day to implement the Safe Routes to School program in our pedestrian UN-friendly city and state. Raquel Nelson is not responsible for the hostile environments we've all created. Atlanta needs more crosswalks and sidewalks, not one more woman in prison and her children in the DHS system!
