That's nice.
It might also be noted that for many years now, different Israeli Peace organizations bring volunteers into the occupied territories in order to assist in olive picking in areas closed for Palestinian by the military.
Goldstein is a lone nut case but there are groups within Israeli society that consider him a saint.
Also, lets not forget about the Jewish Underground (Hammeahteret haYehudit) - a Jewish terror organization which was active in the begining of the eighties. Today, some of its members (that were all released by 1990) are well known and involved in political activity.
Very interesting comparison. This colonial perspective really does characterize the Israeli discourse in regards to the conflict. Not only the Israeli media, but also Israel's educational system follow a very strict and limited narrative that simply erases the existence of the Palestinian side.
I wonder if the Palestinian state will have a citytrain...
Perhaps the only hope at the moment. The new government will be consisted of religious oriented partiess that declare their intentions to expend the settlements. After the downfall of the Israeli left wing, it might be that Obama's administration will have stronger impact on the Israeli government than the left wing opposition in the Kneset.
It is very sad. Most of the Israeli public is unaware (not that many bothers to check) to the nature of the embargo. The Israeli media hides the Palestinian side so well that people simply don't care. Although several organizations publicly opposed the war, this is very far from being a "national outrage".
