Why do the homeless female veterans have to be labeled mentally ill & addicted to get housing?

What a disgrace; if they REFUSE to be labeled for life crazy & convert to the 12-Step religious cult they will be left in the street gutter......

The Vietnam Veterans of Americaare is a major recipient of VA substance abuse & mental health funding. They follow the VA's treatment model of labeling EVERY homeless veteran as a 24/7/365 alcoholic/addict & mind-f*cking crazy; requiring forced 12-Step Religion, never-ending group therapy, handfuls of mind frying meds, jammed packed shelters with no privacy, rules-rule-and even more rules. You could walk in to a VVA homeless office and tell them you are homeless due to running out of UI checks and the first word you'll get is  "DENIAL" and before you know it, you have been diagnosed, by the office clerk, a complete alcoholic/addict with serious mental illness and signed up for their massively taxpayer paid "treatment" program.

Sorry New York City, there is no way in the world you can surgar-coat this veteran's shelter; it is a prison!

The "Faith-Based" homeless agencies are the worst! If you refuse to convert to their religion you are denied a bowl of their food bank bean soup and thrown to the streets. That's how evil they are.

Once the VA labels a veteran as "Mentally Ill" it's all downhill for the veteran. The VA's treatment model is : nasty jammed-packed shelters with no privacy, forced 12-step religious conversion, never-ending "How do you feel?" group therapy, handfuls of mind frying meds not even approved for animals, dead-end jobs sorting clothes at Goodwill or twisting crate-paper around a wire to make flowers to peddle for a buck. And after years of the VA's nonsense the suffering veteran gets a letter in the mail: CLAIM DENIED!

The places the VA sends homeless veterans are horrifying. The Portland VA sends homeless veterans to TPI, Inc. shelter where they have contract beds. The shelter has 100 bunk-beds jammed packed in an old storefront. Other than homeless veterans, the place is filled just released child sex offenders, street-loose crackheads, foaming at the mouth toothless meth freaks, drowsy methodone heroin addicts, just released violent felons, and a open shower/bath room with street hustler preditors lurking. Very sad place for the veterans.

The "Housing Trust Funds" are a huge scam. The money does not go for housing, it goes to the Povert Pimp's programs of labeling EVERY homeless person alcoholic/addicted & mentally ill, forcing all homeless into the 12-Step Religion, never-ending group therapy, horrifying shelter prisons, rotten food bank discards, rules-rules-and even more rules, 24/7/365 baby-sitting, and after all that STILL HOMELESS and worse off that before!

The VA system is horrifying to the homeless veterans. Every homeless veteran MUST convert to the 12-Step Religion or they are labeled "Treatment Resistant" and thrown back to the streets. This is true. If a homeless veteran has a beer at a ball game, the VA claims that is substance abuse and requires tens of thousands of dollars in detox & "treatment" (yes, homeless do go to games).
