I find your information about the President's support of charter schools. I am a public school teacher in a large, thriving school district, so I cannot speak from experience. Yet I believe there are some serious issues with charter schools in our public school system. I do recgonize the need and the success, but what about students whose parents do not have the time volunteer 20 hours a week? Or students who do not fit the particular belief system of that charter school? I also wonder about the regulation of charter schools, as they are not truly part of the public school system. I wonder the same thing about private schools as well. I believe in many ways charter schools widen the divide in public city schools. Charter school students because the so called "haves." There has to be a way to use some of the successes in charter schools in regular public urban schools.
