The marriage thing is the one point that work needs done - or at least a mechanism to secure the next of kin, etc. as married couples have.

I pay WAY more taxes than the average hetero, too, and not because Im rich - I am not.  I have my own issues in life that keep me unmarried, and as such, I dont get any of those breaks either - so even if I were to only make 14,000$ a year - over 1/3 of it goes right to the govt, even tho I use almost no government resource.  Do I have some civil rights that I am being denied and I am unaware of?

I am hated by religions everywhere too.  In fact I can think of one that wants to kill everyone of us... religions suck like that sometimes.  But, its not a civil right to be free from people who dont like you, much like you have the right to dislike/hate/whatever towards me.

I do not "endorse" this guy, and had you actually read my postings, you would really have to twist the hell out of my words to turn it into an endorsement for him.

I do however, endorse getting THAT job getting done  NOW without any polical crap interference - even his braindead comments.

And to answer that question: no, absolutely not. Bigotry is bigotry - to preferrentially dislike certain bigotry, is in and of itself, bigotry.

I definitely understand the sentiment - and by all rights you should make it heard.  We all get tore up on from time to time, some worse than others, and I am sure its particularly uncomfortable for some when the tearing up has direct connections to bad recent history.

But, youll not convince me anyone should interfere with whatever theyre finally getting around to doing about it... I am no tree-hugger, not even remotely, but I do recognise that what theyve potentially done in the gulf is bigger than all of us and it needs to just get fixed.

Einstein was a flipping idiot, too... if the guy is an excellent physicist, he will be known for his "profound" work, rather than his stupid side - much like Einstein.

If we went and dug the dirt on all of our historical notable figures, history as we know it would be in deep shit.

point is Chris - he's an ass, and as I said - he can go F-himself and come up with some strange sturr to describe that too .. who cares .. theyre his opinions.  I wouldnt deny a gay a job if I needed the job done and he was qualified just because he had expressed some anti-hetero sentiment off the job.   Well, actually - Id probably get sued if I did, yes?

And think about this importance of THIS job.. is it really worth entangling it in this kind of BS?  No, it needs to be done, and it needs to be done 4 weeks ago.

Look at it like this.  Gays have every respect anyone else does, in my eyes (with the exception of those incessive whining ones that feed on the drama), and the same goes for all the straights I know.  But, there will always be those idiots, like the racial side has the "neo nazi" idiots.  As long as theres someone who gets mad about it being said, someone will say it just to make someone mad.

As long as your rights are being respected in line with everyone else's rights, youve got whats yours... enjoy it.

Really? Who cares.  Im a sodomite (by definition) and Im not even gay - how about just letting him have his opinion so come up with some strange slur to call himself when he just goes and Fs himself.

Yeah.  Anyway - if hes a worthy physicist, he's needed for the job.  Put the BS on the shelf and let them fix the gulf - for real.

  • Should We Be Wary of Counterprotesting Fred Phelps?
John commented on the article | almost 2 years ago

"I must say that when Phelps steps out, someone needs to confront him. Someone bigger, meaner, better armed (in the IQ, wit, and courage departments), and of the combative frame of mind."

Theres a quote, I forget by who, but: "never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience."

There's some reality in this, in that some people are too hard-headed, self-righteous, and indignant to ever see they are wrong, even if it was tattood across the forehead of their every follower.

This joke Phelps needs to either be treated like the joke he is, or just ignored.  Afterall, the attention is what they want, and the attention helps otherwise "few and far between" halfwits like him get connected to him...

  • A Maternal Mortality FAIL in the U.S.
John commented on the article | almost 2 years ago

If and when everyone who benefits put in equally... but just as it is with the pharmo situation (US citizens paying way more for the same drugs, from US companies), half the world is always reaching out with an empty hand waiting for the United States citizens to fill it.  Why does it always have to be billions funneled from USA?

Right, the whole world benefits from this monopoly that US citizens are on the sh*t end of,.. so, until the rest pick up their slack, I accept none of it.

And besides, this article is about possibly crappy maternal healthcare in USA.. despite the vast money thrown at healthcare in the USA. The reason is simply that - a lot of money isnt being thrown at healthcare here, its just that these laws force us to pay 2x as much for a pill as other countries, despite the pill being made by the same company!!

Sure, its going to look good on paper: "look at all the money USA throws at healthcare", but its BS, we are just being robbed.

  • Call on the Obama Administration to Investigate Mumia's Case
John commented on the article | almost 2 years ago

This is THE ONLY reason I am against the death penalty.  People are far too stupid to make that choice, and case after case proves to be an innocent in prison for capitol crimes that they did not do.

Predatorial scum that rape and murder deserve nothing less than execution, but our system has proven itself to be far too defective and dysfunctional to make that call.
