I am going back to a real computer, a hand held device for me is like trying to solve math equations using the methodology in use at  today's schools!  I can do it, but the old way is so much easier!

I attended a phenomenal training seminar for Fire Fighters dealing with autistic children during traumatic events.  Very eye opening experience and one I am so happy I had.  The training showed me how my normal response to search and rescue must be altered to effectively extract the autistic individual from the situation.

I need to object to your comment.  In my hometown, the state pays close to 12,000 per child for primary education.  The graduation rates are horrible, and the school system averages a 54% passing rate on state wide acheivement tests.

They instituted a choice program, allowing students to attend any of the 4 high schools in the corporation, and the system provides transportation to the schools.

Money is not the issue in our system, yet it is still broke.

  • Can we have a reasonable conversation about nationalization?

I agree we should look at a compassionate approach to home foreclosure in instances where individuals have truly been caught in a situation they can no longer control.
We also must be cognoscente of the high percentage of foreclosure on homes where people are living beyond their realistic means.  Case in point- a home was built via a popular television show for a deserving family.  The show provided cash to pay for the federal tax and 10 years of property taxes.  In the housing boom, the family took advantage of the escalated market and obtained a line of credit mortgage for a house which was previously free and clear of any payments.  This line of credit was in the millions, and they spent the majority of the credit line.  When interest rates rose on the ARM, they could no longer afford the payments and the house went into foreclosure.   I ask you, should we help someone like this?

  • Stop Trash Talking Medicaid in the Stimulus!

Medicaid is broke, plain and simple.  The system is still very slow to deliver funds to providers and raises the cost of health care.
I am a application consultant who has installed medical billing automation for the last 6 years, of all the insurance carriers, Government controlled insurance reimbursements are fraught with red tape and undo burden on the providers.  Doctors must hire expensive staff the manage the cash flow, which drives costs up even further. For those who think universal coverage is the key, think again, we can not manage what we have today, (medicare/caid and Social security).  I would rather take time and build a good health coverage system then ram rod thru a program that will be torn to pieces in 2.5 years. First step in the process, force all legislators to use Medicaid as their primary insurer while in office.  Let’s see how quickly we find a solution!
