I am totally in favor of a universal health care plan. I would even support a government option (we already have two, Medicare and Medicaid). But there is a terrible problem that I have not heard or read expressed. This problem will lead to rationing of health as an unintended consequence. That problem will intensify when we include the 40 or so million not receiving any health insurance. That problem is the absolutely non addressed shortage of Primary Care Doctors. These doctors are the "gatekeepers" to the system and we are hundreds of thousands short now. We have the worlds best "specialty Health Care (that's why so many come to the US, their medical establishment has the opposite problem...too few specialists). I would like to see some discussion about this problem.
