I am a life-long resident of the community of Pompton Lakes, NJ. In 2007, I learned the truth about the historical toxic legacy that DuPont is responsible for. A complex contamination of soil, groundwater and added in June 2008, the vapor intrusion contamination information was released to the public. Many thought this site was being cleaned up for decades but unfortunately this was not our reality. Devastated by this news, I founded the volunteer group entitled "Citizens For A Clean Pompton Lakes", which is comprised of commited current/former residents. Presently, our fight for environmental justice continues as we STILL wait (HRS in 1982) for a Superfund designation. We rightfully deserve this opportunity to have a real voice and a clean-up to the highest residential standards possible so we can begin to live worry-free. In the meantime, toxins continue to invade our soil, groundwater and send poison gases into our homes.
