Coke has shown that its donations to the parks were at their base a cynical move, with the purpose of promoting their own sales and profits trumping any concern for the parks, their visitors, or the environment.
Coke should not attempt to influence park policy for their own benefit, and NPS should have the backbone not to let themselves be held hostage by the donation and twisted into acting against the greater good. Parks are public property, and corporate bribery has no place there.
Shame on Coke. With all the enormous profits they reap, and the enormous environmental damage they cause, they could make a donation and leave it at that.
