I have worked in U.S. nonprofits serving women, children, and families. I worked in Thailand with refugees from Burma in camps on the Thai side of the border for 4 years. I was already politically liberal and interested in service, sustainability, political accountability, protecting the environment. After Thailand, I'm much more attuned to the struggles and conflicts throughout the world that leave groups marginalized, oppressed, as refugees. I'm aware as a U.S. citizen of how privileged we are and aspire to living a greener and more sustainable lifestyle. I look for ways of making the phrase 'think globally, act locally' more vivid and real for myself and others. I am a practitioner of a process called Focusing and just graduated from the Prairie Region Centre for Focusing in Winnipeg where I studied how to apply Focusing to trauma therapy.
