I lived in Duluth for 6 wonderful years. I'm filled with pride for the community leaders addressing this difficult issue. Confronting racism is hard from any perspective - and the Duluth community will be even stronger for it. See it. Know it. Stop it.
Thanks for your years of sharing fine ideas and some of the most interesting news. Your work was key to helping me understand the space as it's evolved and I'll certainly be less able to navigate these changing waters without your steady stream of writing and curating on Change.org.
I'll be watching Asset Map closely, looking forward to that and any other endeavors you take on in the coming months and years.
Thanks Nathaniel. I appreciate the link to your post. I'm doing a little work with the Mulago Foundation, and have been impressed by the focus they put on impact & scale. Here's a quick presentation by Mulago's Director, Kevin Starr, at last months Design Research Conference in Chicago - talking about his approach:
There's a bit of provocative stuff in there about well celebrated efforts he thinks got it wrong...
Thanks Nathan, and best of luck in your search. For those of you looking in New York - check out Green Spaces, a coworking spot focused on green entrepreneurs.
I'm actually happy being without an office in San Francisco. If you're able to balance occasional time at home for phone calls and able to rent conference space when needed, San Francisco has a number of coffee shops with ample outlets that welcome us web-based workers. I'm a huge fan of SF's Coffee Bar in Portrero, Sugar Lump and Haus in the Mission, and there are many more.
I dropped my proud 'NO on 8' ballot today. Thanks for being a voice for human rights Michael.
