I came upon Change.org through a forum that urged people to vote for a cause to present to the President-elect. I have joined the site to advocate the rights of immigrants who are here to be productive members of American society despite people who hate them simply for being foreign.

They are not hiding behind they're children. They are trying to give their children a better life in a country that does nothing to help the situation in their native land. What is pathetic are judgmental people who assess situations without knowing the background information, who are heartless and have no human compassion. I can feel the Founding Fathers turning in their graves even now.
President elect Obama, I know you will never visit this page but I urge you as a lover of this country to stop this inhumane behavior, to learn from the mistakes of history and put the compassion back on the streets of the United States. -

Even with 40,000 attorneys flooding the country, they will always be in demand. Don't be so quick to assume that immigrants are the bad guys and that they are out to steal jobs. Walk a mile in their shoes. I challenge you, Mr. Bashore, to walk a mile in the shoe of a fresh faced high school student, guilty of nothing more or less than being brought to this country as an infant by parents who never legalized their status. Is this child, who has lived their entire lives here and knows no other homeland, any less of an American than you are? I challenge you to look one of them in the eye and answer that question.
Mr. Bennion, please continue your work, I applaud your efforts to better the situation of immigrants in this country. -
