Cassidy commented on the petition |I was a Girl Scout for 18 years and even earned the Gold Award as a Senior scout. Girl scouts was an integral part of my childhood and I know it is equally important to so many other young girls across the country. It really distresses me that this otherwise amazing organization (that promotes a respect for nature) is supporting the destruction of some of the last wild places on earth by refusing to simply change one ingredient in their cookies. There are so many alternatives to palm oil, and although they may be a little more expensive they are certainly worth the cost to save the rainforest. Though I still support scouts, I must admit that I have not bought a single box of cookies for over three years and I will continue to not do so until palm oil is removed from all of the cookie products.
