Now you told everyrone! They'll be coming here for services. Actually I think that is happening already! Hence the boom.
I wondered if we should implement a schedule at home for our son. About two weeks ago he woke up, pulled out a writing board and wrote down his entire day. He wrote down the things he wanted to do and the things he needed to do. Needless to say, my husband and I were amazed that he knew how to spell certain words. It made me stop and think that maybe we should do schedules at home every morning. Maybe it would help with the anxiety. But then I remembered that I don't know always know what I'm doing five minutes from now, let alone at what we are eating for dinner. So I too am trying to find a balance.
If I'm being honest, he is more independent at school then he is at home. So that is something else I've gotta work on. I think I'll just enjoy our day off together today!
This is a terrible situation that is unfortunately, not uncommon. Autistic children are being held to a different standard for their behavior. This entire situation could have been avoided if they let the girl wear her cow costume. I mean seriously, were they just embarrassed that she was wearing a cow sweatshirt? These people need to have some tolerance for autistic expression instead trying to make them like all the other kids.
