Wow, good for him. Alyssa loves to swim. There must be something about the water---I myself am not a big fan.

    DOCTOR Chew,

I am always touched by parents who accept (because I do think there's always a stage of confusion/devastation) their disabled child's abilities and strengths as opposed to their challenges. I have watched my own parents grow to love Alyssa so much, and my sister and I (and our boyfriends) have definitely helped my parents realize that Alyssa will be safe and happy once they are no longer here.

    Dr. Chew,

Sounds really interesting. If possible, I would like to attend one of these conferences with you. I know Caldwell is having an autism conference on April 17th and 24th. I am thinking about going on the 17th.

Hope you're enjoying my thesis! Can't wait to defend it--I hope I don't eat those words... :)

i talk about creativity in my thesis. i got to observe an art class and the students seemed to love art class, thus their behavior was overall better than it was in the classroom.

    you'll read it..soon! i promise :)

That's an unbelievable story. I'm so nervous about finding a teaching job right now, that everytime I heard about a bad teacher (there's ALOT OF THEM, and this woman is exceptionally cruel), I get really angry at the whole education system.

On another note, my cousin Vincent and his fiance are expecting. They found out that Desiree (the mom) has Rh7 factor blood, and Vin is O+. Apparently, they're not compatible, but there is a series of injections that Desiree can go through. Vincent will be holding his breath until August (the due date), I'm sure.

I wholeheartedly agree with your hopes for the new President and his administration.

  • Left Behind on the Bus
Susan commented on the article | about 3 years ago

I will never forget this: About seven years ago, I was waiting for Alyssa to come home from school. At her normal arrival time
(3:40 P.M.), I watched the bus drive past our house. A couple minutes later, the bus was in front of the house, and a very upset and shakey Alyssa walked toward me. I looked at the bus driver from behind my front door, and she was laughing. I never really understood where some bus drivers get their audacity (and dare I say-stupidity).

Dr. Chew-I'm happy that I can finally post on your blogs--I love reading (and of course learning from them)!
