I am hearing impaired; my son is blind. We understand the need for service animals. This policy is truly blind in that the rule-makers refuse to see.
It's great to see the resiliency in the green sector. I'm getting more and more discouraged in teaching, and moving into an environmental career would be a great option for my skills and philosophies.
I've seen this first hand. A close friend and wonderful teacher in the Emotional & Behavioral Disabilities realm has to leave her program: because she is lower in seniority than another. This teacher is fabulous: I taught 6th grade in the room next door, and together we worked with three needy kids, including one with a recent diagnosis of Asperger's. Sad, but true, this seniority system has its drawbacks.
Acceptance is a much stronger concept -- and more difficult -- than recovery.
