There is a report on CNN that several Senate lawmakers, Susan Collins was one, that want to scrub the package of certain items they don't consider to be stimulus. I believe the forces that are against federal education funding may try to erase this historic extension of special education funding. Parents need to contact their senators, especially the committee that Susan Collins is on.
Nicole, those are some really great websites. I especially liked the Paula Kluth website.
"autism community chooses to use the term recovery"
I like to think I'm part of the "autism community". But I don't think about such things.
"who used to have "typical" children, and they want them back." What autistics hear when this is said is that they don't want the child they have, they want another child to take the place of the child they have. I hope no one has to hear this.
It is difficult to be a parent to someone like me. I do apologize to my mom and dad for that and at times I have wished I was someone different than I am. I know I caused a lot of heartache in my family, and still do to this day. I wish, for the sake of them, that I had been more like my brother and sister. But I'm incapable of that. So, I have to move on and decide how to handle the rest of my life. This is how I've decided to look at things today:

King Arthur: If you will not show us the Grail, we shall take your castle by force!
French Guard: You don't frighten us, English pig-dogs! Go and boil your bottom, sons of a silly person. I blow my nose at you, so-called Arthur King, you and all your silly English k-nnnnniggets. Thpppppt! Thppt!Thppt!
Galahad: What a strange person.
King Arthur: Now look here, my good man--
French Guard: I don't wanna talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper! I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!
Galahad: Is there someone else up there we could talk to?
French Guard: No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time-a!
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
I ain't poisoned, though, on occasion, I've been known to "poison" myself with a little "bubbly".
"it takes more than a diaper to protect a baby!" Depends on the diaper :-)
I think drinking lead and chlorine isn't good for you, but I don't have a chemistry degree, its just a guess. I suppose if you put just a little on your tongue it might not affect you but again, I'm not sure.
"CEO of change.org to say that this blog needs to be represented by all three sides."
Mr. Welsh, have you also written to other not so friendly autistic/disability sites and asked them to include autistic/disabled voices? If so, please direct the change.org readers to those requests.
Wow, that was a pretty powerful post.
Lucien, you might find the information in this link interesting about Mr. Olmstead's article and the Amish. I found it interesting.
