Oi, you can call me Jesse, Arthur...
(CNN) -- Venezuela announced Wednesday it is breaking diplomatic relations with Israel over the conflict in Gaza, joining Bolivia, which did the same thing earlier in the day. Bolivian President Evo Morales announces Wednesday that he is severing diplomatic ties with Israel. In the announcement issued by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, the government cited "the gravity of the atrocities against the Palestinian people." The statement accused the Israelis of having "ignored, systematically, calls from the United Nations, violating in a repeated and shameless manner the resolutions approved by the overwhelming majority of their members and placing themselves ever more on the margin of international law." It described "19 days of continuous bombardment, the assassination of more than 1,000 people and the destruction of the infrastructure of the population of Gaza," calling it "a human catastrophe that is unraveling before the eyes of the entire world."
Racism will not always exist. The same might be true for America if we do not refocus our priorities.
To be fair, the thoughts of one derranged cleric do not speak to the ambitions of every arab, nor is every arab a muslim. I agree that there should be disent against such radicals within the arab and muslim community but aligning the author of the above article on rebuilding Gaza with being a Nazi is unjust. Also, Israelis need to speak up against the wholesale slaughter that is being taken out on innocent Palestinians before the descendants of the Holocaust end up commiting genocide themselves. I think this article shows that there are voices of concern on both sides that want to work together only the extreemists on either side end up taking action for everyone.
I wish you the best Clay and hope your situation eases up as I have no idea what Korea is like. I was speaking from within an American context which is what the article was referring to. Besides, all this talk of halves is mis-leading because everybody is an amalgam of so many cultures that there will never be a suitable categorization besides what you mentioned... human. However, I am in America and this place is all I can speak on and I am ever skeptical of the "Obama- effect" and a post-racial, color blind USA. It just seems like a quick fix to a 500 year series of problems.
I appreciate this only I wish our society was not so polarized. I am somewhere between Fifty and Barack but for some reason our society is obsessed the "this or that" dichotomy. Regardless, thanks for the vid!
What I would really like to know is what 20 questions those students were asked.
