If you're saving up the money during your pregnancy it might be that you don't have enough money for a downpayment until the kid arrives.  And it's also quite possible that moving/looking for houses isn't convienent until you are on maternity leave.  I know my mom didn't move to a new place until I was a week or so old, and it was the same with my youngest brother.  Granted these were rentals, but I could see the same situation being more likely to play out if you were buying.

Small correction- federal Medicaid does not universally cover the  poor.  That is a myth.  Neither does Medicare universally cover the elderly.  There are large holes within each program.  Filling in those holes might be a first step.

I'll remember that next time I'm discharged from the ER with a 92 oxygen stat and unable to breathe.  It's just fear mongering- no reason to believe I'm in imment danger of death from asthma.

Use the ear candle in your ear.  And then just light a candle and let it burn.  Compare the gunk inside it- it will look the same.

I remember watching The View (in middle school...) where they were saying that the candles were removing wax from the ear.  Yes, somehow the canldes were able to pull your ear wax from your ear and deposit it in the tube.  And, you know what the evidence was?  The wax in the candle!  Because, there's no OTHER reason wax would be in a CANDLE?!?

1%?  That's a nice, round number.  What's the cite?  Who published the study?  Was it peer reviewed?  What is included in the statistic?  Smoking?

42.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot.  Without a cite, your stats are useless.

I'm tired.  Hopelessly uninsured and tired.

I predict that this healthcare bill will only be mildly better that what we have now.  I also predict it will be repealed before 2014.  I think that this bill has sufficently halted all state level changes, and honestly- right now I think individual states need to step up to the plate and start making plans for universal healthCARE in their states.  Because the federal government obviously cannot do so, at least not in any reasonable or timely fashion.
