Man made global warming or not. The ONLY people stopping windmills and solar farms from being installed are NIMBY's who do not want a windmill 'disturbing' their view (try off of Martha's Vineyard?). Windmills and solar power systems are ALREADY competitive with oil and coal. The ONLY problem is their intermittent nature. That nature is easily solved with hydrogen cracking stations on our coasts using regular old water. That hydrogen can be used to balance the power availability of wind and solar. On top of that, we do NOT need to transport hydrogen in mass quantities for fuel, just put hydrogen cracking stations at existing gas stations. T. Boone Pickens is already investing in windmills and Michigan is planning a big project in Lake Michigan. A company called Nanosolar and another called Sterling Energy Systems both have solar power systems available that are efficient and can be made cheap enough to easily compete with oil and coal. BTW, why don't the Big Three diversify and build windmills in their idle factories? That puts people to work building green energy systems NOW.
A good way to help the citizens of Darfur would be to ARM those people with GUNS and AMMUNITION. At first, the fighting would get worse but, once evry adult had a gun and knew how to use it, the peace process could finally begin. Owning guns is like being able to vote, everyone should have the RIGHT to do so.
MOST victims of this kind of violence are disarmed by their own governments first then the genocide begins.
LEGAL Migrants, YES, ILLEGAL Immigrants, NO. For every illegal immigrant here, a good U.S. job is destroyed due to undercutting of the value of their work. For all thos who want to raise the minimum wage, all you have to do is eliminate 12 million illegal aliens and wages will rise accordingly. That works for our rising unemployment rate too, eliminate 12 million illegal competitors for the jobs and the unemployment rates drop like a rock. Illegal aliens do not pay taxes at the rate legal citizens do either so, they are a drain on our economy and our government services.
Polar bears are NOT endangered. Just look at their population figures and you can see that. There are more polar bears today than there were 20 years ago. Just as an aside, polar bears are opportunistic carnivores, they eat ANYTHING they can catch not just seals. They have been eating caribou for millenia and there are plenty of those around. Ever since the Alaskan Oil Pipeline was installed, the caribou population has exploded, same with the polar bear population.
If you check out the temperatures on Mars, the same temperature rise is occuring. I guess us sending all those probes has caused Mars to warm up too?
That does NOT mean that we should not reduce the use of fossil fuels though. Yes We Can convert to solar and wind power. Updating and using the electric grid, we can make gas stations into hydrogen stations with local production of hydrogen from water. Then all the solar and wind energy will be used when it is available and provided to us when we need it for our cars. That would eliminate billions of gallons of gasoline consumption a year. The next step would be expansion of wind and solar power for ALL our energy needs with nuclear power as a backup as it should be.
