Kristina, You made the post. We offered an olive branch that would be a compromise. Why would you not want to add a third voice to this platform? That is all we were asking for. I think real intelligent debate could ensue.   There is no need to seek some Magical "Unifying Force" We are all in the trenches working for a better world for our families. So many times, we start a dialog and then when honesty is required we do as the mainstream does divide, lie, deny and ignore. All sides need to take a deep breath. You could start with compiling the top ten (probably 30 -50 ) things our missions have in common.

I am always open peace negotiations. All sides coming to the table would be a start. I still think having a the third side represented in this blog would be a start. Right now you have a three legged stool with only two legs. In many minds this blog represents one of the more fractious elements in our community.

We have a long way to go. Even though the Autism community seems divided on ways to pursue funding, cause, treatments, and therapies. The list of what unites us is much greater. We all have stories about treatment in grocery stores, YMCA, Church, Schools, and more. We all have stories of cleaning up poop. We all have stories of communication issues. The true human spirit really is what brings us together. Never in a civilized society should individuals be treated like this child was. There are stories daily from around the world. Kristina I think we should come up with the list that shows our Unity first. Thankyou more than twice this week.

  • Letter to a YMCA Director
Tim commented on the article | almost 3 years ago

We had a similar experience with Tanner and my wife. A school trip to the YMCA. First they did not know the class was coming. Then they denied access to the locker room. It was the first time anything like this had happend to my wife and son. So my wife was upset. The lady made comments like he does not look handicapped. They then suggested a young man unkown to my wife take him and change him. That got her more upset. Throw in a few ignorant comments and we had a big scene. Thank God our minister was on the school bus w his daughter to save the day. I was so upset that I wrote everybody in a very harsh tone. I was surprised at how the national YMCA runs and hides from this issue and sends it back to the local director. I have since worked things out with the local director and consider him a friend and advisor. I still am surprised that this is an ongoing situation that has not been addressed on a national level. You would think that it would become a national ADA issue and training issue for YMCA. This is an area where they can and should do more for our children, today!

  • Another Little Vaccine Post
Tim commented on the article | almost 3 years ago

One day it will be proven. Have you heard the saying it is better to be safe than sorry? I see my advocacy helping not only our children and families dealing with Autism but all the other vaccine injuries and fatalities. There are more than 140 vaccines waiting for approval. Pharmaceutical companies are lobbying for more boosters and HPV vaccine for boys. Christina where will it stop. Almost 5000 families are willing to go to court. The court has conceded publically that the vaccines caused Autism. I understand your point of view and agree that services, supports and education should be our priority, But what does denial of the epidemic get? The ones that dealt the environmental blow should pay. How many witnesses does it take to convince a jury? One or two? Well if we were given fair hearings we could march 10's of thousands up to the stand. Dr. Healy said we should have our come to Jesus moment and admit that there is a lot to learn about Autism. Better safe than sorry.

  • Behind the Vaccine Scare, Parental Fear
Tim commented on the article | almost 3 years ago

Turn off the lights Christina and go home. You can not tear apart the diagnosis for your own cause. Autism and Autism like are the same. As well as the entire spectrum included in the diagnosis. There is a real pattern and parents see it. Call it Autism you are denied. Call it Mito or PDD and you get money. Well there is either darkness or light. In this case since we only see what is shown to us well after the fact, most logical thinkers will assume there is more. Two that say vaccines cause autism. Three that say it doesn't. In this case two wins because once you have conceded it once. You lose and children win because now we can move on and get help from the people who hold the money and should be paying. Your bias for big Pharma makes me ill. Are you on the payroll?
