  Reverse decision to try 12 y/o Cristian Fernandez as an adult

  I have worked with youth offenders for many, many years. Most of the youth I work with are abandoned first by their families and then by the system. They are left to rehabilitate themselves. They are left to fend for themselves. They are left to fight their way out of a hole that more times than not they didn't put themselves in. They get little to no assistance in the form or therapy or rehabilitation. It is a travesty of justice the way these CHILDREN are treated. Regardless of their crime, they are CHILDREN. To sentence a 12 year old CHILD to a lifetime behind bars should be criminal. To waste this life because others made poor choices for him and gave him a poor example of life is not a reason to sentence this CHILD to a life sentence. He deserves the chance to find out what normal is.
