Joel commented on the petition |Sad to see the Governor of a city like Dallas with domestic benefits for city workers not be able to get behind this. Mike, why don't you exhibit some leadership and give Christine Gregoire a call up in Washington to ask her why she changed her mind on it and endorsed it. Don't be one of those politicians that courts people's votes, tell them they will support them, and then slap them in the face like this. That is not part of the job description as mayor. Read up on your ombudsman role in what ever handbook they gave you to learn how to do that job.

Joel commented on the petition |Police departments have gone from a group of people that care about the community they serve to a band of thug-like power freaks more akin to hardened criminals. We need to get back to basics relative to community police departments. Everything is not a war game, there are not punks with automatic weapons in every situation. Police need to return to past decent community standards and reintegrate "to serve and protect" into their swearing in process. THAT is the core of the problem here, police as community members versus police as police state goons.
