So, my first comment is more just an observation about the over tone of the debate over illegal immigration in this country, and in this forum.
I do agree that certain convervative leaders, perhaps including Rush Limbaugh, negatively affect the level of debate in this country by legitimizing extreme view such as whatever attrocity befalls illegals while in our country is acceptable because they shouldn't be here in the first place. And unfortunately, it's extreme views like that one that have made it impossible for anyone to enact any meaningful immigration reform in the last 20 years, on either side of the issue, resulting in even more frustration for people that nothing is being done about the problem...
My second comment is, I noticed that most people who criticized this article made no effort to state that they actually believe illegal immigrants don't deserve to be murdered. I'd prefer if you explicitely state your position on *that*, because otherwise, it's impossible for me to tell if you're an extremist, or a reasonable person capable engaging in a conversation with me.
My last comment is simply that I believe that illegal immigrants should *not* be murdered, even though they are here illegally. And I believe our government should protect them and try to prevent future murders. Believing that illegal immigrants deserve whatever attrocity befalls them is the same attitude Pakistani militants hold against our soldiers in Iraq, and they are animals.

Glenn,
I wish you wouldn't turn this into a Christians vs gays debate. There are plenty of Christian organizations that support gay rights. Chick-Fil-A could have supported one of those, then no one would be complaining. Instead, it chose to support Focus on the Family, which while doing beneficial things for people, unfortunately has also tireless thrown up roadblocks to long overdue pro-gay equality legislation, and whose leader has said absolutely inexcusable things. If you are a supporter of Focus on the Family, but also hold progressive values, I would urge to you somehow put pressure on that organization to lay off the gay bashing, so we can all get along. But until they do, we have every right (and actually, the responsiblity) to call them on the hurtful ideas they propogate.
