I suggest to please do more research regarding FGC. The one you mention is the most rarest form of FGM which is infibulation. The one just as equal to MGM is Type 1 which cuts away the clitoral hood (aka prepuce) or/and labia minora. But most all Muslims practice the cut of the clitoral hood. If you try to do this in the US, the girls are protected by the law and you go to jail. Too bad the boys don't enjoy of the same rights of bodily integrity.

The one that does harm is infibulation, the rarest form of FGC. Type 1 (I suggest to please research FGC and its degrees before commenting) is just as similar as as MGM which removes the clitoral hood (aka prepuce) and/or labia minora. Some cultures only removes the clitoral hood, yet we cannot do it in US because it's illegal.
So what about the study I mentioned above regarding female circumcision to prevent HIV? Does that count too?
