Again, law is not literal. Many who read these words will interpret them as they see fit, often to the detriment of the gay community.
Yes, because we all know the United States has absolutely no history of interpreting laws in ways that harm the LGBT community. Give me a break! Do you really think that a state that won't allow teachers to talk about the mere existence of homosexuality in a classroom is going to allow for discussions outside of the classroom? And even if teachers were allowed to have these discussions - and agreed to have them - how many of them do you think would be supportive, fair discussions? I'm sure that many of those straight teachers don't have their fact straights about our community, considering they live and teach in a state where it doesn't exist until grade 9.
