I am a writer with a stong social concience concerning the rights of
people both in my country and globally. I have been involved in politics and fighting for the rights of others for more years than I care to renember. I have started grass roots programs for children
and been a volunteer in the cause of equal rights and especially children. I have raised money, served on children's boards, talked to senators in the State of Washington and attended Marion Wright
Edelman'd convention where I could I could find everything I wanted concerning children. It was the most organized convention I have yet to attend. I learned so much. This was in 1990 and she was my first goal for the year. I took two friends with me. I wish I had the picture of Marion and me. We all stood on the steps of the capitol in Washington and after speaking with Congress and touring the White House, we allowed our balloons to float in the air

IT is difficult to merge all homeless people together. There are people who use drugs and drink alcohol who choose to remain on the streets because they ca't get jobs or get into a shelter. There is zero tolerance for addiction in a homeless shelter.
Santa Moica, California has done a great job which includes churches, etc. However, it has become a political "hotbed" during the last six years. -
Roberta commented on the article |Good for you! I once investigated stories of the homeless. Every day I said, " What you do to the least of my brothers, you do unto me! In my research, I found people who had lost their homes because of being one paycheck away. Also in my research it said that if you are in a car or sheltor, you are homeless. However, if you are in prison you aren't homeless!!!!
Excuse me!!!! What kind of message is that giving our children?
